Vodacom Group (Pty) Ltd acquired 25% of Teljoy Cellular Holdings (Pty) Ltd, one of the largest cellular service providers in South Africa, for R75 million in September 1995. On 1 September 1995, Telkom obtained a 100% interest in Swiftnet (Pty) Ltd, which provides a fixed and portable radio data system. In terms of the licence agreement, 30% of the shareholding has to be taken up by non-white South Africans.
