Notice to those using the Luscher Color
Test on the ST computer:
The Luscher color test is based on the
original test developed by Dr. Max
Luscher of Switzerland. I originally
wrote it for the benefit of some
psychologists with whom I am
acquainted, to use as a companion with
Dr. Luscher's book, enabling them to
retrieve interpretations faster.
Simply, it detects personality traits
based on prejudices and preferences of
very specific colors. The original
test was given with very specific color
hues on ink pigments. The colors
chosen from the ST pallet were the ones
I felt came closest to the original
color selection. There is a good
possibility that those hues, on the
computer, may NOT have the same impact
psychologically as the original colors
chosen by Dr. Luscher. THEREFORE, IT
IS UP TO THE USER TO DETERMINE ITS
ACCURACY IN PORTRAYING PERSONALITY.
For best results, I found that if you
turn the contrast on your monitor to
about one quarter, it depicts the
colors a little better.
Also, Dr Luscher has since done some
revisions to his interpretation tables.
In taking the test, be advised that it
is NOT to be used for determining
psychological health, or to demonstrate
mental superiority. The original test
also blended more specific
interpretations due primarily to the
variations of the test being taken more
than one time. The ST version simply
matches the color pairs with the
corresponding interpretation, and does
not consider the variations.
Professional psychologists may find it
helpful, but only with the
understanding of the programs
limitations.
The program is menu driven and self
explanatory. Simply begin by choosing
the Instructions from the menu. After
you have read them, with the mouse,
choose the color you like best... down
to the one you like the least. If you
wish to restart, or have made a mistake
in your choice, simply choose "Shuffle"
from the menu (or push the space bar)
and begin again.
Some of the interpretations don't paint
a very positive picture of the
personality profile. My advice is to
NOT take it too seriously. Remember,
this was written by a psychologist,
who's job it is to find specific stress
points and locate potential or actual
problems. For example, if an
interpretation says that someone is
"frustrated and stressed from
restrictions on freedom", this does not
necessarily mean there is a lot of
serious stress in a person's life. It
may be simply pointing out that the
person is independent by nature, or has
independent tendencies. Each person is
unique in their own personality
frame... and THAT factor must be
considered. Keep in mind that the
specific interpretation may just be
indicating a general trait, or
tendency. And, as mentioned, due to
the fact that the computer version has
never been tested, the interpretations
could be totally inaccurate.
I would like to thank Matt Walton for
his help in revising the program to
work in a menu environment, and
cleaning up some problems I had in GFA.
This program is placed in public domain
as shareware. However, this document
must be intact. Interpretations are
copyright (c) Dr. Max Luscher.
For the program to run properly, you
MUST have the LUSCHER.PRG in the root
directory (not in a folder). The
folders containing the interpretation
tables named PLUS, MINUS, MULT, EQUAL,
and PLUSMNUS must also be on the same
disk as the LUSCHER.PRG. Your computer
needs to be in low resolution, and have
no desk accessories (or, at least,
DON'T use them during the program).
To avoid individuals writing me telling
me in their "chosen" language how
despicable I am because the
interpretations gave them bad
"personalities", I will simply state
that if you think it is accurate, fine.
If not... well, it doesn't mean much
anyway. I will leave that part up to
you. Due to the transfer of the test
to computer, there is no guarantee of
accuracy, either stated or implied. I
am not responsible for any damages
legal or otherwise from the use or
misuse of this program. It is for
informative, educational, and
recreational use only.

Color Test, you are encourged to get
