  2. Notice to those using the Luscher Color
  3. Test on the ST computer:
  4.  
  5. The Luscher color test is based on the
  6. original test developed by Dr. Max
  7. Luscher of Switzerland.  I originally
  8. wrote it for the benefit of some
  9. psychologists with whom I am
  10. acquainted, to use as a companion with
  11. Dr. Luscher's book, enabling them to
  12. retrieve interpretations faster.
  13. Simply, it detects personality traits
  14. based on prejudices and preferences of
  15. very specific colors.  The original
  16. test was given with very specific color
  17. hues on ink pigments.  The colors
  18. chosen from the ST pallet were the ones
  19. I felt came closest to the original
  20. color selection.  There is a good
  21. possibility that those hues, on the
  22. computer, may NOT have the same impact
  23. psychologically as the original colors
  24. chosen by Dr. Luscher.  THEREFORE, IT
  25. IS UP TO THE USER TO DETERMINE ITS
  26. ACCURACY IN PORTRAYING PERSONALITY.
  27. For best results, I found that if you
  28. turn the contrast on your monitor to
  29. about one quarter, it depicts the
  30. colors a little better.

  32. Also, Dr Luscher has since done some
  33. revisions to his interpretation tables.
  34. In taking the test, be advised that it
  35. is NOT to be used for determining
  36. psychological health, or to demonstrate
  37. mental superiority.  The original test
  38. also blended more specific
  39. interpretations due primarily to the
  40. variations of the test being taken more
  41. than one time.  The ST version simply
  42. matches the color pairs with the
  43. corresponding interpretation, and does
  44. not consider the variations.
  45. Professional psychologists may find it
  46. helpful, but only with the
  47. understanding of the programs
  48. limitations.
  49.  
  50. The program is menu driven and self
  51. explanatory.  Simply begin by choosing
  52. the Instructions from the menu.  After
  53. you have read them, with the mouse,
  54. choose the color you like best... down
  55. to the one you like the least.  If you
  56. wish to restart, or have made a mistake
  57. in your choice, simply choose "Shuffle"
  58. from the menu (or push the space bar)
  59. and begin again.

  61. Some of the interpretations don't paint
  62. a very positive picture of the
  63. personality profile.  My advice is to
  64. NOT take it too seriously.  Remember,
  65. this was written by a psychologist,
  66. who's job it is to find specific stress
  67. points and locate potential or actual
  68. problems.  For example, if an
  69. interpretation says that someone is
  70. "frustrated and stressed from
  71. restrictions on freedom", this does not
  72. necessarily mean there is a lot of
  73. serious stress in a person's life.  It
  74. may be simply pointing out that the
  75. person is independent by nature, or has
  76. independent tendencies.  Each person is
  77. unique in their own personality
  78. frame... and THAT factor must be
  79. considered.  Keep in mind that the
  80. specific interpretation may just be
  81. indicating a general trait, or
  82. tendency.  And, as mentioned, due to
  83. the fact that the computer version has
  84. never been tested, the interpretations
  85. could be totally inaccurate.

  89. work in a menu environment, and
  90. cleaning up some problems I had in GFA.

  96. For the program to run properly, you
  97. MUST have the LUSCHER.PRG in the root
  98. directory (not in a folder).  The
  99. folders containing the interpretation
  100. tables named PLUS, MINUS, MULT, EQUAL,
  101. and PLUSMNUS must also be on the same
  102. disk as the LUSCHER.PRG.  Your computer
  103. needs to be in low resolution, and have
  104. no desk accessories (or, at least,
  105. DON'T use them during the program).

  107. To avoid individuals writing me telling
  108. me in their "chosen" language how
  109. despicable I am because the
  110. interpretations gave them bad
  111. "personalities", I will simply state
  112. that if you think it is accurate, fine.
  113. If not... well, it doesn't mean much
  114. anyway.  I will leave that part up to
  115. you.  Due to the transfer of the test
  116. to computer, there is no guarantee of
  117. accuracy, either stated or implied.  I
  118. am not responsible for any damages
  119. legal or otherwise from the use or
  120. misuse of this program.  It is for
  121. informative, educational, and
  122. recreational use only.
