OCR: CHRONOLOGY AUGUST 19, 1871 AND APRIL 16, 1867 Bom in Dayton, Ohio (Orville), and Millville, Indiana (Wilbur), sons of a bishop of the United Brethren Church. AUGUST 1892 Together they found the Wright Cycle Company in Dayton. 1901 They build a wind tunnel to test wings and airframes. DECEMBER 17, 1903 Orville flies their first biplane, Flyer I, for 12 seconds; Wilbur flies it for 59 seconds. SEPTEMBER 1905 They succeed in sustaining flights of one hour in Flyer III. MARCH 1906 The brothers travel to Europe to sell the plane and demonstrate the adaptability of powered flight. MAY 11, 1909 U.S. Signal Corps buys a plane from them. MAY 30, 1912 Wilbur Wright dies, in Dayton, of typhoid. JANUARY 30, 1948 Orville Wright dies, in Dayton, having lived as a recluse since 1912 (neither brother ever married).
