  1. NewsWatcher is a free Macintosh USENET news reader.

  3. NewsWatcher requires a Mac running System 7.0 or later with 2.5
  4. megabytes or more of memory and a hard drive. The Mac must be
  5. connected to the Internet, and MacTCP mut be properly installed
  6. and configured. For dialup use, NewsWatcher works together with
  7. the various SLIP and PPP programs, and with AppleTalk Remote 
  8. Access together with an appropriately configured AppleTalk/IP
  9. gateway.

  11. newswatcher-20b22.sea.hqx: The program.
  12. release-notes-20b22.txt: Release notes for 2.0b22.
  13. user-doc.postcard.sea.hqx: The user doc in postcard format.
  14. user-doc.msword.sea.hqx: The user doc in MS Word format.
  15. source-20b22.sea.hqx: The CodeWarrior source code.

  17. You only need to get one of the user doc files. They are the
  18. same document in two different formats. The "postcard" version
  19. contains its own viewing and printing software, so you don't
  20. need a copy of the word processor I used to create the doc.
  21. The "msword" version is in Microsoft Word format.

  23. The "helpers" subdirectory contains copies of other programs
  24. which NewsWatcher uses to help it decode binary files and 
  25. open URLs.

  27. The "old-release-notes" subdirectory contains old release
  28. notes for previous beta releases of NewsWatcher 2.0.

  30. The file "inn-xpat-patch.txt" contains a patch your server 
  31. administrator can apply to INN 1.4 to fix a problem with the
  32. XPAT command. See the user doc for details.

  34. The file "posting-delays-note.txt" contains a note about
  35. why posting takes so long with some kinds of old and 
  36. misconfigured news servers.

  38. The file "url-ae-standard.txt" is a document which describes
  39. the standard URL Apple event suite.
  40.  
  41. The file "url-draft-rfc.txt" is a copy of the draft RFC
  42. standard document for URLs.
