  2. DataScope reads and writes 2D 4-byte floating
  3. point data stored in HDF files on the Macintosh.
  4. Horizontal and vertical scale information is
  5. read, and processing history and annotations are
  6. saved via the notebook.  Palettes stored in the
  7. HDF files are used (if no palette exists, a default
  8. will be used by DataScope).

  10. When an HDF file containing multiple images or
  11. multiple palettes is read, only the first image and
  12. palette is loaded, the remainder being ignored.

  14. When data is read, it is assumed to be in
  15. "row-major" order.  For polar data, row headings
  16. specify radii, while column headings specify
  17. angles.  Angles should be between 0 and 2π.
