- Shareware.
-
- Shareware is software that you are allowed to
- try out before you pay. Some differences between
- Shareware and other software:
-
- Shareware is no Public Domain, because you' re
- not allowed to change it; besides, Shareware
- is in copyright.
-
- Shareware is no Freeware because you have
- to pay for it.
-
- Shareware is no Demoware because it is a complete
- product.
-
- Shareware is no Crippleware because it is a normally
- functional product that has not been sabotaged.
-
- Shareware is no Payfirstware. For an evaluation version
- you pay only distribution costs, you don't pay the
- program itself.
-
- By far the most programs on this CD-ROM belong to the
- so-called Shareware concept. Shareware is a way to bring
- programs to the users. You are allowed to use your
- shareware programs for a certain time in order to try
- and find out whether they fit in with your expectations.
- In most cases, the instructions will tell you for what
- period you can use your programs freely.
- After a certain time, say 30 days, if you want to continue
- these programs should be registered. Then you pay a certain
- amount for the program of your choice, after which you
- get, very often, help, updates for free and printed
- instructions. A Shareware-producer receives his money
- only if you have yourself registered. Doing so, you'll
- receive a specification of your program and
- information about new versions.
-
- To the consumer, only one conclusion is left:
-
- Shareware is fair ware!
-
- So you better try it and if you like it, have yourself
- registered!!!!!
