  1. Notes on accessing Freethought Disks
  2.  
  3.      All EXE files are compressed and need to be loaded to a Hard
  4. Drive.  All nine disks require approximately 12M of disk space,
  5. still compressed!  
  6.      To make copying easier, I made (on my computer) a Freethought
  7. books directory I called FREELIT and then made 9 sub-directories
  8. called; DISK1, DISK2, DISK3, etc. so that I could use the Copy *.*
  9. command when duplicating them.
  10.      Volume label on the orginal set of disks was WISDOM94A.  There
  11. are some errors on the disks; mostly machine errors, such as line
  12. feeds, but also I detected some typos and even a duplicate essay in
  13. different files.  As these errors are corrected, I (we) need to up-
  14. grade the volume label, from a to b to c, etc.  The 94 is the year
  15. that I last copied it.  I had removed a couple of errors on the
  16. original and added BROWSE to each disk for easier access.
  17.              This set of disks is volume WISDOM94B
  18.      To access the files after you put them on your hard drive,
  19. using my example, type C:\FREELIT\DISK1, ENTER.  I then type the
  20. name of the file, ie, ING01 and the file will expand giving several
  21. file names xxxx.DOS or xxxx.D.  The DOS files are in ASCII format.
  22.      If you want to look at a file, type BROWSE FILENAME.DOS.  Be
  23. careful to manage your disk space.  You may want to limit expanding
  24. the files to DOS files one .EXE file or disk at a time. 
  25.      The Ingersoll files (Disks 1-3) will print out to almost 5200
  26. pages!  I haven't added up the other 7 disks, yet.

  28.      Congratulations on now possessing a fine Freethought library;
  29. a  larger collection than are in most libraries.  I hope you will
  30. copy them and give them to school and public libraries all around
  31. your area.  This makes a great Chapter project.  Don't forget to
  32. reward yourself with a personal copy!  Thank You.
