  16.     This week's Report covers the time period from midnight Thursday
  17.     morning, January 19, Pacific Standard Time, to midnight 
  18.     Wednesday night, January 25, 1995, Pacific Standard Time.  We 
  19.     recorded 292 earthquakes of M1.0 or larger during the 7-day period 
  20.     covered.
  21.         Although the overall number of earthquakes this week was
  22.     not outstanding, people have been busy feeling them.
  23.         The week's largest event was a M3.5 early Tuesday morning,
  24.     about halfway between Riverside and Moreno Valley.  It was felt,
  25.     possibly as far away as Pasadena.
  26.         Probably the second most excitement was due to the swarm
  27.     of quakes north of Big Bear Lake beginning Saturday night and 
  28.     lasting into Monday.  There were six of these that were felt (M2.8
  29.     and larger); the largest one was M3.1.  They were Landers/Big Bear
  30.     aftershocks occurring geographically between the main aftershock 
  31.     zone of the summer of '92 and a M5.3 in November of '92.  
  32.         A very small quake (M2.4) on Saturday afternoon was felt
  33.     in the La Cienega area, north of the I10 and southwest of the
  34.     La Brea tar pits.  It was not an aftershock.
  35.         A M2.7 early Wednesday morning was an aftershock, however,
  36.     of the Northridge quake.  It was felt in the San Fernando area.
  37.         The table lists the quakes this week that were M2.0 or 
  38.     larger in the central part of the coverage area.  Times are local 
  39.     times; if you want Greenwich Mean Time, add 7 hrs to the Pacific 
  40.     Daylight Time or 8 hrs to the Pacific Standard Time listed.
