  29. This section describes how to use the program.

  32. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.1. Start ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  34. It's necessary to change the OS2COM.INI to your needs! 
  35.  
  36. How to use the OS2COM.INI is described in this manual and in the original 
  37. OS2COM.INI delivered with the program. Every line is commented and should give 
  38. you all the help you need to understand what it does. 
  39. However, there's a section with a detailed explanation in this manual. 
  40.  
  41. The OS/2-Commander should be started with the OS2C.CMD. 
  42. This is the only way to change to the current drive and directory when leaving 
  43. the program. If you don't need it (e.g. if running in a window) of course you 
  44. can run it by starting the OS2COM.EXE directly.

  47. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.2. The keys ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  49. CURSOR-Up/Down (or mouse) moves through the files. 
  50.  
  51. CURSOR-Left/Right moves the cursor in the command line. 
  52. If the command line is empty, you can use CURSOR_Left/Right to change a 
  53. directory up/down. Use CTRL-CURSOR_Left/Right in a Brief-List. 
  54.  
  55. CTRL-END moves the cursor to the end of the command line. 
  56.  
  57. CTRL-HOME moves the cursor to the beginning of the command line. 
  58.  
  59. ENTER or mouse double-click changes into the directory the cursor is actual on, 
  60. starts a program, changes inside an archive or starts a program linked to the 
  61. extension. See OS2COM.INI for more information. 
  62. If the comand line is not empty, ENTER executes the command, ESC erases the 
  63. command line. 
  64. ALT-ENTER also starts programs, but Commander will launch a new task for it.

  66. INSERT or right mouse button tags an entry.

  68. SPACE tags an entry, if the command line is empty.

  130.     You can enter the filename to search for. If you append the parameter /a to 
  131. the filename OS/2-Commander will search for the files on all drives. Than you 
  132. can enter a text to search for in these files. 
  133. You get a list of all files that matches your search criterion and have now the 
  134. possibility to change to a drive and directory of a found file. You can also 
  135. view the files in this list, tag the files and copy, move or delete all or some 
  136. of the found files. 
  137. You can tag files with INS or SPACE. If the scrollbar in on a directory, the 
  138. selection for all files in it will be inverted. With "+" you can select all 
  139. files, "-" will deselect all files, "*" will invert the selection of all files.

  141. ALT-F8 history window of the last 20 commands. 
  142.     RETURN or left mouse button executes the command, CTRL-RETURN puts the 
  143. command to the command line.

  145. ALT-F9 Video-mode  If you've trouble with 30 or 34 lines since OS/2 2.1 
  146. March-beta try ALT-F9 to solve it.

  148. ALT-F10 Directory-Tree. CTRL-Enter brings you to the next matching entry if a 
  149. search string is entered.

  151. ALT-<letter> moves the cursor to the next entry starting with this letter. 
  152. CTRL-Enter brings you to the next matching file. See OS2COM.INI for more 
  153. information.

  155. ALT-[0-9] change to directory stored under that number

  157. SHIFT-ALT-[0-9] store current path under that number

  159. CTRL-F1 to CTRL-F5 sorts the active window by name, extension, date, size or

  165. Use CTRL-F7 or type "WCD <dirname>" to change to a directory directly across 
  166. all drives if you have the program WCD and a WCD database on your disk. All WCD 
  167. environment switches are supported. Please read the WCD manual for more 
  168. information. The OS/2-Commander does not support an WCD database update yet, 
  169. I'll do this in a future version.

  172. CTRL-F9 Diskcopy 
  173.  
  174. CTRL-\ (CTRL-# on german keyboards) to switch to the root-directory 
  175.  
  176. CTRL-A shows the listing of self-extracting archives.

  178. CTRL-C kill archive coments. Works only inside a ZIP or ARJ archive.

  180. CTRL-D switches the 'DesInfo' default. Show 4OS2/4DOS descriptions in the 
  181. DESCRIPT.ION file ON/OFF.

  183. CTRL-E is scrolling through the command-history 
  184.  
  185. CTRL-Cursor_Up can be used as a History-Search-Function similar to CTRL-E. If 
  186. you want to get back a special command out of the history you can enter the 
  187. beginning of the command and get the command back with CTRL-Cursor_Up.

  189. CTRL-Cursor_Down like CTRL-Cursor_Up, but search backwards. 
  190.  
  191. CTRL-F change file attribute, date and time. 
  192.  
  193. CTRL-G switches between ascending and descending sorting 
  194.  
  195. CTRL-H show hidden files on/off. Default can be defined in the OS2COM.INI.

  197. CTRL-I switches FILES.BBS-Info. If ON the descriptions of files are shown if 
  198. there is a FILES.BBS in the current directory and the opposite window is the 
  199. Info-window. Can be turned on at default in the OS2COM.INI.

  201. CTRL-J puts the filename under the cursor to the command line.

  205. CTRL-L switches the inactive window between 'Info' and 'Filelist'.
