  4. The annual meeting of the Lanark County Genealogical Society was
  5. held on December 7, 1994 at the Heritage House Museum, Old Sly
  6. Road, Smiths Falls.
  7.  
  8. The meeting opened at 8pm and the President welcomed all to the
  9. meeting.
  10.  
  11. Members in attendance included: Evelyn Bowes, J.F. Belisle,
  12. Marion Marion Cavanagh, Margaret Clifford, Edgar & Jo Anne
  13. Charron, Ellen Foster, Helen Gillan, Alice & Lloyd Hughes, Lorne
  14. Hunt, Edwin & Mildred Livingston, John Morrow, Gladys Macfarlane,
  15. Margaret Moffitt, Donald Oliver, Peggy & Stu McEwen, Jim Neelin,
  16. Shirley Somerville, Marilyn Snedden, Laura Wall and Irma & David
  17. Willoughby.

  19. Moved by John Morrow and seconded by Stuart McEwen that the
  20. minutes be approved. Motion passed.
  21.  
  22. Treasurer Helen Gillan reported depositing $105.00 in membership
  23. fees, with bills of $105.00 for stamps, $25.00 for the Heritage
  24. House Museum, and an unknown bill outstanding with Quick Print,
  25. leaving a bank balance of $1700.00.  Moved by Mildred Livingston
  26. and seconded by Irma Willoughby that the report be accepted as
  27. read. Motion passed.

  29. The President will request if John Dunn could submit a brief for
  30. publication on his Scottish research.  This should be an aid for
  31. those endeavoring to locate Scottish ancestors.
  32.  
  33. Shirley Somerville from Smiths Falls joined as a new member of
  34. the LCGS and was welcomed by all.
  35.  
  36. Ottawa OGS advises that a group has been formed with the name: 
  37. British Isles Family History of Ottawa.  Contacts for this group
  38. are Brian O'Reegan and Allen Rayburn.
  39.  
  40. The President displayed a number of publications available for
  41. viewing  and a list of Carol Bennett's publications covering the
  42. Ottawa Valley.
  43.  
  44. Mildred Livingston suggested that a small charge or an IRS
  45. enclosure be required for all queries from non-members.  Marilyn
  46. advised that most of the requests were from members and that as
  47. yet we did not have a large backlog of requests to be answered.

  49. Moved by Alice Hughes and seconded by Marion Cavanagh that the
  50. minutes of the last annual meeting be approved as read.  Motion
  51. passed.
  52.  
  53. Moved by Stuart McEwen and seconded by Mildred Livingston that
  54. Lorne Hunt audit the Treasurer's books for 1994.  Motion passed.
  55.  
  56. The President advised that in 1994 we published 9 newsletters and
  57. now appear on the Certa Cito bulletin board.
  58.  
  59. The Nominating Committee, composed of Russ Ford, Helen Gillan,
  60. Mildred Livingston and Stuart McEwen returned the following slate

  86. slate of officers be acclaimed as there were no further
  87. nominations from the floor.  Motion approved.

  89. Moved by Alice Hughes and seconded by Irma Willoughby that an
  90. honorarium of $50.00 be given to Ann MacPhail in appreciation for
  91. her outstanding work in publishing our newsletter.  Motion
  92. approved.

  94. John Morrow advised that the first Saturday in March would be the
  95. best day for our visit to the Family Research Centre in Smiths
  96. Falls.  [**Ed.note:  See last page of newsletter for details].

  98. It was suggested that we hold auctions for our unused
  99. publications to help us defray expenses if we must pay to print
  100. our newsletter.

  102. Dr. James Neelin gave a well documented talk on his research of
  103. the Robson and related families. This was most interesting as a
  104. number of LCGS members are direct descendants of this family. 
  105. Our appreciation and thanks go to Dr. Neelin.

  114. a John MOTHERWELL who, in the nineteenth century, settled on Lot
  115. 25 of Concession 4 of Olden Township.

  121. HALLIDAY/HOLLIDAY-  Would appreciate any information on
  122. descendants of John HOLLIDAY who came to Perth as the
  123. schoolteacher with Scottish settlers in 1815.  I have a copy of
  124. Clarence Halliday's book "John Holliday: A Forthright Man",
  125. written in 1962, so I do have some information already.  In
  126. particular, I am looking for information on Isaac HALLIDAY, born
  127. 1821, twelfth child of John and Margaret HOLLIDAY.  Isaac was my
  128. great-great grandfather. I know that his wife's name was
  129. Elizabeth (census information) but do not know her maiden name. 
  130. Can anyone tell me if Clarence Halliday is still alive and if so,
  131. could you supply me with an address.  If not, perhaps an address
  132. for any of his relatives who might have additional information
  133. from Clarence's notes.  Thank you.

  140. Canada in 1880's with wife Charlotte Davis and 2 sons.  Where did
  141. they settle?
  142. Dr. John KAY was Reeve of Dalhousie, North Sherbrooke & Lavant in
  143. 1850.  Family moved to Exeter, Ontario.  Wife was Catherine
  144. MILLER.  Anyone tracing this family?  I will share my research.

  150. PATTERSON-  My g.g.grandfather James PATTERSON settled in
  151. Drummond Township c.1826 until his death in 1888.  I am hoping to
  152. obtain information on his brother John PATTERSON and his wife
  153. Mary Ann (McLEAN).  In 1881, he was in Montague Township with 7
  154. children and he was still alive in July 1888 when my
  155. g.grandfather died.  I have not found any record of his death in
  156. the Anglican church archives nor of any of his family. He was a
  157. farmer but always leased the land.

  166. BROWNLEE.  Agnes born 14 Oct 1809, Bathgate, West Lothian,
  167. Scotland, dau of James DICK and Janet BROWN, her twin sister
  168. Elizabeth married John DODDS. No record of Alexander, or where
  169. they moved to after marriage.  Checked Goulburn Twp. and Beckwith
  170. Twp., census 1851, also church records for marriage, but can find
  171. nothing.  "Brownlee" used as second name for several Dodds
  172. descendants.  Can anyone help me on this one?
