  11. The MCS-600/700 has been designed to provide easy "Plug and Play"
  12. installation.
  13.  
  14. The MCS-600/700 supports all SCSI disk drives that conform to the
  15. ANSI standard "Common Command Set". The MCS-600/700 ROM BIOS is 
  16. designed to identify and properly support the type of SCSI disk 
  17. drive it is installed with. The MCS-600/700 will work with IBM 
  18. PS/2 MicroChannel family and compatible computers.

  22. Physical Installation

  25. Follow the IBM instructions for removing the cover and inserting
  26. the MCS-600/700 in your MicroChannel computer.

  28. The MCS-700 external connection to a SCSI device is via the high
  29. density connector at the head of the board.
  30.  
  31. The MCS-600 external connection to a SCSI device is via the 25-pin
  32. D-SUB connector with Apple SCSI Pin-Out at the head of the board.
  33. The HCA-120 cable must be used with this connector.

  36. fit your application.

  40. System Configuration

  43. Boot up the system using the "Reference Diskette" that came with your 
  44. MicroChannel computer.  Make a copy of the diskette using the 
  45. "Backup the Reference Diskette" option from the main menu.

  47. Next, copy the Future Domain @6127.ADF file to the backup copy of 
  48. your "Reference Diskette".  This allows configuration of the 
  49. MCS-600/700 SCSI controller via the Reference Diskette's setup 
  50. utilities.

  52. Once completed, boot from the backup copy of your Reference Diskette 
  53. and select the "Set Configuration" option.  Follow the instructions 
  54. for setting up controllers in the MicroChannel System.  The MCS-600/700 
  55. will show up on the menu.

  58. Note : The "Automatic Configuration" option may not always correctly
  59. resolve system resource conflicts. Therefore, we recommend users to
  60. select the "Set Configuration" option instead.
