  14. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE:
  15.  
  16. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  17. before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
  18. using it, you are expected to register.
  19. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
  20. and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
  21. exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
  22. programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
  23. of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs
  24. and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of
  25. distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
  26. and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
  27. specific group. For example, some authors require written
  28. permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
  29. Shareware.
  30. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
  31. should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
  32. whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
  33. fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.
  34. And because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware
  35. has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
  36. product, you don't pay for it.

  39. Users of SQWEZ  must accept this disclaimer of warranty:
  40. SQWEZ  is supplied as is.  The author disclaims all
  41. warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
  42. the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.
  43. The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or conse-
  44. quential, which may result from the use of SQWEZ .

  46. REGISTRATION AND SUPPORT:
  47. SQWEZ  is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  48. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  49. friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
  50. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to
  51. provide personal computer users with quality software without
  52. high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
  53. continue to develop new products.  If you find this program
  54. useful and find that you are using SQWEZ  and continue to use
  55. SQWEZ  after a trial period of 15 days , you must make a reg-
  56. istration payment of $25.00 to JM Software. The $25.00
  57. registration fee will license one copy for use on any one
  58. computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just like
  59. a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any
  60. number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
  61. location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it
  62. being used at one location while it's being used at another.
  63. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the
  64. same time. Commercial users of SQWEZ  must register and pay
  65. for their copies of SQWEZ  within 15 days of first use or their
  66. license is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by
  67. contacting JM SOFTWARE.

  69. JM Software does not require a distribution license for commercial
  70. use of the SQWEZ self expanding file. Authors may freely distribute
  71. the self expanding  final product( that is the final result of SQWEZ,
  72. not SQWEZ.EXE ), but neither may not be altered in any manner or form.

  74. Anyone distributing SQWEZ  for any kind of remuneration must
  75. first contact JM SOFTWARE at the address below for authorization.
  76. This authorization will be automatically granted to distributors
  77. recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for
  78. shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
  79. SQWEZ  immediately (However JM SOFTWARE must still be advised so
  80. that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest
  81. version of SQWEZ .).

  83. You are encouraged to pass a copy of SQWEZ  along to your
  84. friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
  85. copy if they find that they can use it. All registrations will be
  86. verified. Every effort has been made to make SQWEZ  free of errors
  87. and bugs.For a three month period after registration, any problems or
  88. questions brought to JM SOFTWARE's attention will be addressed .
  89. The problem will be corrected or the registration fee will be refunded.
  90. Describe the error along with the type of equipment you are using.
  91. All registered users will be notified of SQWEZ  updates and may recieve
  92. a copy for the cost of mailing.
