First and second photographs in a sequence showing the construction of the four-masted Schooner Dornfontein at Portland, New Brunswick in 1917 and 1918. The vessel was built by the Marine Construction Co.
1. The first photograph, taken November 5, 1917 shows an early stage of construction. The keel has been laid and the stern post, on the far right, is in place. Ten frames are up and have been secured to the keel and another is being raised into position.
2. On January 29, 1918 the vessel is in frames and the deck beams are in place. Note that the frames are arranged in pairs.
