Four of these objects (A-D) pertain to a burial cult which originated in the Ohio Valley and entered QuÄbec via the St. Lawrence and Richelieu rivers by 600 B.C.
A. Large stone mortuary knife.
B. Stemmed stone mortuary knife or spear.
C. Tubular smoking pipe manufactured from a distinctive Ohio stone. (This specimen actually comes from Ontario but is similar to QuÄbec specimens.)
D. Boatstone. Also manufactured from Ohio stone the function of these objects is unknown, but was likely ceremonial.
E. Early and Middle Archaic projectile points. These early projectile points most likely entered QuÄbec from the south and east.
F. Lamoka Archaic projectile point. The Lamoka Archaic people were centered in New York state.
G. Susquehanna Archaic projectile points. The Susquehanna Archaic of the east coast made significant incursions to the upper St. Lawrence between 1,500 B.C. and 1,300 B.C.
