Excavations in a Late Prehistoric, Early Historic Tsimshian House, Prince Rupert.
Large preserved planks outline a corner of the central area of the house, while excavation is proceeding into underlying prehistoric shell-midden deposits. Historical northern Northwest Coast houses were up to about 15 metres square, built of heavy posts and planks, and often embellished with carved poles.
