Here an artist has re-created this site, which is situated near the mouth of the Fraser River, as it might have appeared about 2,000 years ago. This large shell-midden site revealed evidence for a number of big plank houses, before it was destroyed by modern constructions. At the time shown, the Fraser River delta had not built out to its present limits and the Marpole site, now several kilometres from the sea, would have fronted the ocean.
