Like her brother-in-law Attuiock and the rest of the family taken to England by Cartwright, Caubvick also contracted smallpox but, unlike the others, she recovered and survived the trip back to Labrador. The costume she wears in this Nathaniel Dance portrait appears to be made from "a quantity of broad-cloth, flannel and beads" which were supplied by Cartwright.
