This photograph shows a dog team being fastened to a loaded sled near Main. During the late eighteenth century dog teams of the Labrador Inuit averaged fifteen animals; such teams were large compared with ones found among many other Inuit groups. Since dogs consumed great quantities of food, the presence of large teams attests to the relatively rich resource base enjoyed by the Inuit of the Labrador Sea.
