Not content with saving Battleford, Otter set out in pursuit of Poundmaker. At Cut Knife Hill the government troops again found themselves exposed to Indians firing from below. There was no camera to record Otter's battle, but Lieutenant R.L. Wadmore of the Infantry School Corps provided this sketch which gives a fairer impression than the popular lithograph shown in slide 19. Indians who tried to rush the guns were shot down, but Poundmaker forbade his warriors to follow as the soldiers made their retreat.
