Posters such as this one issued by the Director of Public Information reflect the fear that a German espionage ring might have been operating in this country. Before the war, the RCMP had infiltrated and investigated suspected subversive organizations, and once Canada was officially at war, suspected Nazi agents were arrested and interned. Only two saboteurs were landed on the Atlantic coast during the war, and both were captured.
