There is sufficient evidence to demonstrate that human populations have occupied northern Labrador for more than 5,000 years. Although the coast looks desolate, it is rich in resources for those who know how to use them. Very little is known, however, of the objects and tools made by the Archaic Indians of the region. The few examples that have been found are similar to those from the more southerly sites where the conditions for bone preservation are more favourable.
