  1. The Lachine Strike, 1878.

  3.      There were many strikes among workers employed in the construction or maintenance of canals. This view, published in the Canadian Illustrated News (January 5, 1878), is an artist's rendition of the strike which took place at the Lachine Canal in MontrΘal in 1878.
