In summer only the outer breeks were worn. They reached just below the outer stockings which are seen in illustration 16. The decoration on this pair consists of one wide and four narrow strips of caribou stomach fur and may represent the joint marks of the caribou. The caribou skin fringes were often reserved for shamanic clothing.
