This engraving shows the Oil Well Supply Company as it has been for nearly a century. The original business was founded in 1866 by Hector McKenzie, a skilled iron and brass artisan, who was later joined by blacksmith James Joyce in forming the Oil Well Supply Company at its present location on Robert Street in Petrolia. The company developed and manufactured drilling tools and pumping machinery of all kinds as well as drilling rigs and the steam engines which powered them. As the drillers left Petrolia to open new fields abroad, the Oil Well Supply Company became known the world over for its expertly crafted, highly specialized machinery. The company soon became the largest drilling supply manufacturer in Canada and it is currently the oldest producer of cable drilling tools in the world.
