This photograph was taken from the rear of the house, facing towards the front entrance, after the collapsed roof material was cleared away. In the foreground is a raised sleeping platform of flagstones, twenty centimetres higher than the flagged floor. Small cooking shelves, or alcoves, can be seen along the left and right walls of the floor area, and the sunken entrance tunnel is in the centre background. The latter structure formed a cold trap, preventing the escape of warm air from the house.
