This stratified Eastern Algonkian site was occupied from the historic period back to A.D. 1100. The dark area to which the crew member is pointing provides the archaeologist with evidence of occupation some 500 years ago. The four downward extensions of the dark area to the left of the man's hand indicate the location of post molds.
