In September the teamsters started hauling supplies to the Camboose shanty, which was named after the ship-board "cambuse" where food was stored. The shanty, itself, stood not more than three miles from the cutting site and was surrounded by the stables, the company office, and a store.
Spruce logs, dovetailed at the corners, and chinked with moss and mind between the cracks formed the walls. Note the scooped effect of the roof in the centre of which was the open-fire chimney.
