To promote a sense of order and group cohesiveness, organization and discipline within the school were heavily emphasized. In this classroom, all the pupils sit in uniform rows, hands in the same position, and materials placed similarly on each desk. Similarly, each child draws the same boat. Standardization and uniformity were the goals. Ideally, each child learned the same lessons, at the same rate as other children.
