With so many Americans in the goldfields it was inevitable that they would celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Here floats covered with the stars and stripes are prepared for the parade which was held annually for several years. The Canadian government was always apprehensive about the large number of American citizens in the Yukon and took seriously Police reports that some American associations were acting in a subversive fashion.
