When this advertisement appeared in 1910, Vancouver was in the midst of a major boom. Migrants poured into the city, street car lines expanded rapidly, new districts opened up and land prices rose steadily. Thousands of persons speculated in urban real estate, always considered a quick, easy way of making money. Just two years later the boom came to an abrupt end and Deer Park, about five miles south-east of the city centre, lapsed into obscurity.
