Note the incredible Rossland speculative boom in the mid 1890s. As you can readily see from the sequences of illustrations on transportation and smelting and from the previous slide, the BC mining frontier was increasingly capital intensive, and although many mining companies were incorporated in the wake of mining prices and speculation, few remained independent for long.
