With the last photograph we return to the present. In 1974, the centennial of the founding of Valleyfield, Marie's grandchildren perhaps participated in the QuÄbec games. The character of the city is much changed since the turn of the century. The St. Lawrence seaway has diverted most shipping away from the old canal. The part of the cotton mill which dated from the nineteenth century was recently levelled to make way for a shopping centre (in the centre of the photo). Some of Marie's children and grandchildren can be found in MontrÄal, and some of them have moved to Sept-Iles where they work in iron mines.
