Located near the Assiniboine River, Broadway Avenue and the district surrounding it was one of the city's exclusive residential areas. This is apparent by the large number of trees, the boulevarded streets, the large brick dwellings, and the attractive apartment blocks. Unfortunately, only a few of Winnipeg's residents could afford to live in surroundings like these.
