New in the 2nd Edition
This 2nd edition of Canada's Visual History is designed to run on both
Macintosh and Windows computers. If you have used the first Edition of
Canada's Visual History you will notice some design changes which were
made to make the user interface work on both Macintosh and PC computers.
The multiple window interface of edition 1.0 has been replaced with a
single volume window with a list of your previous activities, accessed
through the previous button. Choosing an item from this list will return
you to the volume/slide you last viewed. Please note that if you switch
languages all references to Index queries and Search queries will be
removed from the history list. The reason for this is that the textual
data on which the queries are based differs between languages.
The return arrow on the bottom right corner of the Images screen allows
you to quickly return to the last function you selected from the Main
Menu.
Also new in this edition of Canada's Visual History is the ability to
scroll across large images. Clicking on the small image switches to an
enlarged view of the image, to return to the small view simply click on
the large image.
Trouble Shooting: Questions and Answers
Q: The first time I copy a picture or text , the editor is very slow to open.
A: This is normal, and will depend on the speed of your system and the
available RAM. The first time you copy text or images please click once
on the copy button and wait for the computer to process your command.
Q: How do I switch back to Canada's Visual History once I am in the text
editor?
A: On the Macintosh, use the finder located at the top right hand corner
of the screen. Move the mouse up to the top right, click and hold the
mouse button. Choose the CVH_HCI icon and you will be back to Canada's
Visual History. On the PC you press and hold the ALT key then hit the TAB
key to switch back and forth between applications.
Q: When I copy an image on to write on my 256 colour PC the colors of the image change.
A: Once you quit Canada's VIsual History, the images that you have copied
to the word processor will be restored to their original quality.
Q. When I copy an image I get a line of nonsense characters.
A. Place the cursor in front of the first character in the line (ignore
the leading spaces) and press return. The image will appear instantly.
This only occurs when copying text and followed by an image on systems
running Windows 3.1 and only affects the first image copied.
