Recent Indian Projectile Points from Newfoundland.
These five arrow points or harpoon end-blades are examples of the type used by Recent Indians of Newfoundland between about 2,000 and 800 years ago. The two on the left are typical of the Beaches complex, while the specimen on the right was made by the people of the Little Passage complex. The two intermediate forms may indicate a continuity through time from the former to the latter. Although archaeologists have no firm evidence to support the notion that the Little Passage people were ancestors of the Beothuks, many researchers now suspect this to be true.
