This view of the interior of the Clendinning foundry in MontrΘal, published in the Canadian Illustrated News on May 4, 1872, depicts another aspect of the manufactory stage of industrialization. Here, a number of workers are using moulds to make castings. Everything is done by hand, as was the case in the coach manufactory shown earlier (illustration 4).
