Officers' Mess Dishes and Glasses, Fort Lennox, Saint-Paul-de- l'δle-aux-Noix, QuÄbec.
The plate in this photograph was made specially for the 13th Regiment of Foot. Each regiment had its dishes produced by an English pottery factory. The china cabinet or plate room beside each mess contained a wide variety of dishes and serving pieces in order to serve properly all the courses and side dishes which were an integral part of eating in the mess. These pieces of pottery and glass were discovered during archaeological investigations at Fort Lennox in the 1960s.
