This is the title page of the speech made by John Graves Simcoe, Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada, at the opening session of the newly formed province's Legislative Assembly. Produced by Louis Roy, it was probably printed on the press in illustration 1. It is very professional work, neatly framed and spaced, with good use of different type sizes, swelled dashes, and the Royal Arms. All the materials used for this printing came from the Caslon type foundry, which is shown in illustration 4.
