  1. This directory contains some DOS programs that some
  2. users might want to use to assist in installing the
  3. Caldera Network Desktop product.
  4.  
  5. fips.exe
  6.         This executable will split a defragged disk
  7.         into several partitions. It is required that 
  8.         the user runs defrag before using this utility.
  9.         For most this utility functions as advertised
  10.         although it is always recommended that a full
  11.         backup be done to insure no data loss on failure.
  12.         This is an unsupported utility. Documentation is
  13.         included in fips.doc. Possible errors that may
  14.         occur are contained in errors.txt.

  16. rawrite.exe
  17.         This executable is used to write a "raw" floppy
  18.         image to an already formated DOS floppy. This
  19.         utility is used to write a boot floppy image
  20.         from off the CD to a floppy. It will prompt
  21.         for needed information. Documentation for this
  22.     utility is in rawrite3.doc.

  24. gzip.exe
  25.         Many files contained on this CD are compressed
  26.         with a utility under Linux called "gzip". This
  27.         utility is used to unzip and zip files from DOS.
  28.         The convention for many zipped files are to end
  29.         with the extension ".gz".

  31. rdev.exe    
  32.         This utility is used to set kernel parameters.
  33.         This utility is for experienced users only!

  35. restorrb.exe    
  36.         This utility is used to manipulate the boot 
  37.         record. This utility is for experienced users
  38.         only! If you desire to restore the Master Boot
  39.         Record of your disk there is an undocumented 
  40.         parameter to your DOS fdisk that will restore
  41.         the MBR. The command to use is "fdisk /MBR".
