  1.                          LaTeX Error Reports

  5. ERROR REPORTS
  6.  
  7. Before you report an error please check that:
  8.  
  9.  * Your LaTeX system is not more than one year old.  New LaTeX
  10.    releases occur at 6 monthly intervals, thus your problem may
  11.    have already been fixed.
  12.  
  13.  * The error is not already mentioned in the documentation of the
  14.    distribution, e.g. in a .bug file.  (In this case it is a feature :-)
  15.  
  16.  * The error is not caused by software other than the core LaTeX
  17.    software that is produced and maintained by the LaTeX3 project
  18.    team (please report problems with other software to the authors
  19.    or suppliers of that software).
  20.  
  21.  * The error is not caused by using an obsolete version of any file or
  22.    of other software. 
  23.  
  24.  * You are using the original version of all files, not one that has
  25.    been modified elsewhere.
  26.  
  27. If you think you have found a genuine bug in recent version of the
  28. core LaTeX software please report it in the following way:
  29.  
  30.  * Generate a bug report template by running the file
  31.    latexbug.tex through LaTeX2e.
  32.  
  33.  * Fill in the spaces in the generated template file.
  34.  
  35.  * Include all necessary information, especially a complete input
  36.    file, a complete transcript file, and all other files used (if they
  37.    are not standard).
  38.  
  39.  * Please note that it is important to make the input file as small
  40.    as possible as this will enable us to find and fix the error quickly.
  41.  
  42. Error reports concerning UNCHANGED versions of CORE LaTeX files
  43. which are less than one year old should be sent by E-mail to:
