  12.  Purpose ___________________________________________________________________

  14.   Velocity was written in about five minutes to measure the impact of
  15. different applications on the speed of polling.
  16.  
  17.   It is interesting to note the impact of different applications on the
  18. overall speed of the desktop, for example, Velocity running by itself (i.e.
  19. not even with any of the desktop tools there) can achieve some 1400 polls
  20. per second; whereas my usual desktop setup after bootup gave about 390
  21. polls/sec.  Thanks to Velocity I've now found that it was TrashCan doing
  22. this and can now get 1200 polls/sec after bootup.

  24.   Oh, and I'm saying nuffin' about ‘Speed!’ by Clares, mmm.
