=======================
TripATron is a program designed to help you loose your personality inside
a fractal legally. The images contained within are perfect for mellow
parties, mad raves, home light sculptures, ambient music accompanyment and
luring people into your shop. I can be in no way responsible for any
dreamlike states or trances you may find yourself in after spending some
time with TripATron, but if you do fall in and fail to come out again, there
is always the escape key... if only.. you... could.. reach... it...
Inside this app, there are several other programs I have picked up over
the years. 'Julia' is the S..L..O..W BASIC program used to generate these
pictures. I can offer you no help in understanding it as it was only
designed for me, and I understand it perfectly, so don't come whinging. It
can however do some interesting tricks with fractals, if you're prepared to
program it a little, including Mandelbrots, Julias, Inverse sets, Potential
sets, Thumbnail sketches etc. All just by removing REMs and changing
variables.
'RLEncoder2' is the screen compacter used in TripATron. It uses the Mac
PackBits algorithm which is excellent for fractals. It's a solid program
that'll cope with everything up-to and including the worst-case, which is
just a little bit more than an uncompacted screen (much better than Run
Length Encoding). It does rely on the screen having rotational symmetry, but
this can be hacked out.
'Mandel13B' came about when I challenged Zeus (remember the teapot?) to
write the fastest mandelbrot generator he could. This isn't it, as it
doesn't have the multiply tables in yet. Still, it's pretty fast.
'Scroll3' is Zeus's friends attempt. Apallingly programming style, so
don't even TRY to understand how it works, but it GOES and GOES. It uses
edge-detection to cut down on recalculation and uses previous screens to
help with zooming. It's user controlled, so if you'd like to scroll around
the mandelbrot set in real-time, the keys are on the keypad:
8 and 2 = scroll up and down
4 and 6 = scroll left and right
1 and 9 = zoom in and out
'FastJAnim' is a program written just to see if it could be written.
Animates Julia sets in real time, and without using any huge databases of
delta-filed screens. Cute, and it jumps up and down on the toes of Amigas
and ESPECIALLY SMUG AMIGA USERS. That is until they try to poke fun at your
software base when you end up having to use physical violence to make them
see your side of the argument. Ah well.
Have a nice day, and RAVE ON YOU TECHNO MASSIVE!
