Firstly, to use this program, you must first load you !Configure application. Open the Windows window, and check that both the 'Allow windows off-screen' options are set to on, ie. are ticked.
What this program does is make the desktop appear to be 9 times the size. You start off in the central area of the screen, indicated by the black square in the window (the black square is the area that is in view). If you now click on any of the other grey boxes, that one will become black and you will see that area of the screen. It's difficult to describe, try it and you'll see.
If a window is say, off to the right of the central area, and you move to the right middle area, then you will find that the other normally hidden half of the window is now on the left of the screen.
The way that I imagine it is as if I was looking through a hole cut into a piece of board (your computer screen) and underneath, I could see another board that I could move around at will but at any one time, I could only see the area underneath the hole (this other board is the desktop). I know it's a bad analogy but you try and think of a better one.
To add to the wonderment, if you ignore the window and move the mouse to the edge of the screen, then the desktop will scroll in that direction.

The mouse will also move to the opposite side of the screen to prevent it jumping back immediately. ie. move the mouse to the far left the mouse jumps to the right of the screen and the area of desktop to the right is shown.
Note, the grid area I have allowed is only 3x3 it's plenty big enough like that. If you try and move outside this area, the computer will beep a lot at you.
The menu is self-explanetry (I think I've spelt that wrong), just click on the scroll item to toggle the mouse scrolling. To quit, you should either quit from the task manager or from the menu. When you do quit, the screen automatically returns to the central area before quitting.
IMPORTANT: if you quit from screenscroll when some of the windows are not visable from it, you will find it very difficult to get them back - this is because you can't open a filer window twice and thus you can't open it again in a visable area. I have found that on my A5000 (risc os 3.11) running normally in mode 27, if I switch to mode 12 and then back to mode 27, the windows tend to reappear on the centre screen. Or you could try turning off the 'allow off-screen' option in configure. The final solution for filer windows is to dismount the disk and then find the window again. BE CAREFUL!
To alter the configuration you can load the setup file which is inside the application and alter the values that aren't prefixed with #s. Don't delete or add any lines to the setup file as it will then fail to run.
Note that you can only run one copy of screenscroll at any one time, if you try and load a second, the program helpfully informs you that you can't.
This program is freely copiable, give it to as many people as you want, just make sure you don't alter any of the files or change any of the credits. The total file size for this program should be 11420 bytes if it isn't, write and tell me who you got it off and I'll sue them good (joke). Copyright remains mine at all times into infinity.
