Pointer Watch
Version 1.00
© 1994 Ben Dooks of DoggySoft
=============================================================================
PtrWatch is a magnifier. It watches where your pointer is, and magnifies
its immediate surroundings to a window. You may have seen !CloseUp (which
comes free with the Risc PC), and several other similar tasks in the public
domain. However PtrWatch is superior to others because:
* You can specify any magnification constant
* You can make the magnification window any size you like
* It uses direct screen plotting to be extremely fast
* It will work perfectly on the Risc PC's new screen modes
* It tells you what icon number the pointer is over
This makes PtrWatch the perfect magnifier for designing windows.
Use
===
To run PtrWatch, double-click on its icon. The PtrWatch icon will load onto
the icon bar. Click Select on the icon to open the magnifier window.
The magnifier window may be moved arond the screen by dragging its work
area with Select or Adjust. Use the size icon in the bottom-right corner of
the window to change the size of the window. Click on the up and down
adjusters at the bottom of the window to change the magnification. To the
right of the adjusters lies the icon monitor. It tells you the icon that's
under the pointer.
A few more options are available from the Choices window. To open this
window, click Adjust on the icon bar, or choose the 'Choices...' item from
the icon bar menu. Once you've finished tinkering with the choices, click
'OK' to set the choices, 'Cancel' to ignore any changes you made, or 'Save'
to save the choices to disc, so you don't have to set everything up every
time you load PtrWatch.
The 'Update time' option allows you to specify how frequently PtrWatch
updates its window. A smaller value means a faster update, which means less
time is given to the other tasks in the desktop. A larger value means the
desktop runs faster but the magnifier is jerkier.
If 'Open magnifier on startup' is selected, the magnifier window is
opened as soon as you run PtrWatch. Finally, clicking on the 'Get default
position' button makes the current position of the magnifier the default.
If you then save the choices, the window will appear in the same place as
you left it, every time you load PtrWatch.
