  3. This is a desktop PRM index application.
  4.  
  5. Simply enter a search expression (may be wildcarded using *)
  6. and up to 16 matches are shown in a window together with the
  7. pages where the corresponding topic can be found in the PRM.
  8.  
  9. There is support for both the RISC OS 2 and 3 PRM.
  10.  
  11. The index files for RISC OS 2 and 3 were written by Andrew Brooks
  12. and Tom Hughes respectively.
  13.  
  14. The preferences window contains two configuration options:
  15.   1) whether the RISC OS 2 or the RISC OS 3 index file is to be used
  16.   2) whether outline fonts are to be used instead of the system font
  17. All changes made to the configuration only come into effect by
  18. quitting the application and reloading it. This should not be too
  19. much a problem as I think that no one uses both PRMs at the same time.

  21. The application uses outline fonts in dialogue boxes and menus
  22. if desired. The font and the font size can be changed by changing
  23. the following environment variables in the !Run file:
  24.  
  25. Set  PRMindex2$IconFont <the name of the font to be used in windows>
  26. Set  PRMindex2$IconFontWidth <its width>
  27. Set  PRMindex2$IconFontHeight <its height>
  28. Set  PRMindex2$MenuFont <the name of the font to be used in menus>
  29. Set  PRMindex2$MenuFontWidth <its width>
  30. Set  PRMindex2$MenuFontHeigth <its height>
  31.   
  32. The variable PRMindex2$UseFont is normally TRUE but can be set to FALSE
  33. if you want to prevent outline fonts from being used. This overrides the
  34. configuration setting.
  35. This can be helpful if you do not have the outline font manager but the
  36. configuration is set to 'use outline fonts'.
