OCR: Getting started To view AVI films, first double-click on the !PlayAVI application. The application will Play (FI) provide a console, onto which one or more files may be drag-dropped. When files are dragged to the console, a viewing window will appear, in which the films will play sequentially. New films may be added to the film sequence at any time. The film sequence may be played once and discarded, or played repeatedly by selecting Starts playback of the currently loaded "Loop" from the menu. Playback may be controlled via buttons on the console, via film, if any, and selects immediate-play function keys, or via the mena. The main controls are explained in the boxes mode for subsequently loaded films. running down the right hand side of this shoct "PlayAVI has been designed to run as an interactive desktop application, while still producing smooth playback of films. The adjustments listed below may however be necessary to obtain smooth playback of some films. e Use of 4 colour and 16 colour desktop modes give poor colour quality, and often produce jerky playback. (F2) e Large format films (greater than quarter screen) may require more processing power than is available during desktop interactie. To achieve smooth playback of large format films, select "Single Task" from Pauses playback of currently playing the menu. There are several video-compression formats used within AVI files. IPlayAVI supports three of the four that are currently in common use: these are Ultimotion. Skips to the end of the currently playing SuperMac Cinepak, and Microsoft Video 1. The Indeo format is not currently film, and continues with the next film in supported. the sequence. Eject all (ESC) Ejects all currently loaded films. The close icon of the viewing window also has this effect. Volume (F5-F6) Changes the volume setting. FS reduces the volume, F6 increases it. The shifted versions of the function keys or a slider click with the SELECT button alters the volume of only the currently playing film. Play Rate (F7-F8) Change the play back speed, affecting boch sound and video. F7 slows down playback, F& spcods it up. Standby Shuts down the player while maintaining the current film sequence. The close icon of the console also has this effect.
