Password
========
Purpose..... Edit MenuBar's passwords
Author...... (c) Graham Crow
Version..... 1.00
Date........ 3 April 1996
Note: Password requires RISC OS 3.1 or greater.
Introduction
------------
From version 2.00 MenuBar provides up to 30 separate menu bars.
Each of these may be password-protected so that only bona fide users
can access the contents.
The main purpose of this is to allow schools to assign a whole menu
bar to each pupil in a class so that they may organise their
projects to suit themselves. If students are given their own
password then their data should be mischief-proof.
Password is written as a separate application so that the teacher
may keep it in a private area and thus have control over the
allocation and sevicing of passwords.
Password in Use
---------------
Run Password in the usual way by double-clicking on !Password. It
installs on the icon bar, and the window opens.
To activate Password you need to drag a MenuBar Data directory onto
the window or icon bar icon. The directory is found in the !MenuBar
application directory by opening the directory 'User'. Dragging
'...Data' onto Password causes the filename to appear at the top of
the window and, below that, the menu bar names together with
existing passwords (if any). Any passwords which are active have a
tick to the right.
In the column headed 'Passwords' you can enter the password for any
named menu bar. Passwords may be up to 10 characters, and are
case-sensitive. Spaces are not allowed. Clicking on the option
button makes a password active (provided a password has been
entered).
When you are satisfied, click Save to write the passwords to the
data files. Alternatively, click Cancel to dispay the previous
settings. Clicking Cancel with the adjust button keeps the window
open.
