- LIBRARIAN - DrawPlus library utility
-
- Version 1·00 © Jonathan Marten 1991
-
-
- Librarian is an application which allows objects to be extracted from
- DrawPlus libraries and transferred to other applications (e.g. DTP). As it
- does not have all the drawing facilities of DrawPlus, it uses less memory
- which allows it to be used in conjunction with other applications on small
- machines.
-
- Libraries can be loaded, saved, merged and objects deleted or renamed. A
- library object can be extracted as a Draw file, or a sprite object can be
- extracted as a sprite. To create a library, or add objects to it, use
- DrawPlus.
-
-
- Running Librarian
-
- Double-click on the Librarian application, or on a saved library file. The
- icon will appear on the icon bar, and if a file was loaded it will appear
- in the library window. The window can be closed (by using its close icon)
- and opened (by clicking on the icon bar icon) without losing the contents.
-
- To load a new library, double-click on the library file or drag it to the
- icon bar icon. If the existing library is modified, confirmation will be
- requested.
-
- To merge libraries, drag a library file into the library window.
-
- The library window shows a scrolling list of the object names, details of
- the selected object (what it is, its size and the time it was added to the
- library) and a thumbnail view of the selected object. To select an object
- for saving, click on its name in the scrolling list.
-
- By clicking the window's toggle-size icon, it can be shrunk to show a list
- of the object names only. Selection and the menu works exactly as before.
- Click the toggle-size icon again to expand the window to full size.
-
-
- Menu options
-
- The icon bar menu has the standard 'Info' and 'Quit' options. Most
- functions are controlled by the library window menu:
-
- File: Standard 'About this file' box giving information
- about the library currently loaded.
-
- Save library: Save the current library.
-
- Clear library: Clear out the library (i.e. delete all objects from
- it and forget the file name). If the library has
- been modified and not saved, confirmation will be
- requested.
-
- Delete object: Removes the selected object from the library, after
- requesting confirmation.
-
- Rename object: Changes the name of the selected object. Edit the
- name in the entry box leading from this option.
-
- Save object: Saves the selected object, as a Draw file. This
- can be saved to disc, or dragged into any
- application which accepts such files.
-
- Save sprite: Only available if the selected object is a sprite.
- Saves the sprite contained in that object as a
- sprite file; again, it can be dragged into any
- application which accepts sprite files.
-
- Units: Sets the unit that will be used when displaying the
- size of the selected object.
-
-
- Finally
-
- Librarian and any example libraries supplied are Public Domain. They may
- be copied and freely distributed by anyone (including PD libraries), on any
- medium, provided that no files within the application directory are altered
- and that no charge (other than media costs, etc.) is made.
