- Preview & Dither Operations
- ---------------------------
-
- Preview
- -------
-
- The Preview Operation is designed primarily for users with graphics
- cards (esp. Computer Concepts' Colour Card). With one of these cards
- fitted you can preview an image in one of the 16 bpp modes.
-
- If you don't have hardware than can display 16 bpp modes then you will
- only be able to use this operation to view in 256 colour modes (not of
- great use).
-
- In order to use this operation you first need to configure Image so
- that it knows what mode to use as the preview mode. You do this via
- the Configuration window (see 'Configuration'). For example, with a
- Colour Card you could set the mode to 107.
-
- Once the mode has been set, you can preview an image by simply
- selecting the preview icon on the Control Panel. Once selected, memory
- permitting, the chosen mode is entered and the image displayed at full
- size. Holding SELECT allows you to move the image around the screen by
- moving the mouse. Pressing ADJUST returns you to the desktop.
-
-
- Dither
- ------
-
- The Dither Option will perform a Floyd-Steinburg error distribution
- dithering on the current input image, displaying the result in the
- display window. This operation can go a long way to make up for the
- limited colours available with current hardware. You can dither the
- sprite whether it is a 2, 4, 16 or 256 colour sprite. Currently masking
- information is ignored during dithering.
-
- The Dither option is very useful as a last thing before saving as a
- standard sprite, as it will make the overall picture look much more
- like the 24 bit internal picture held by Image.
