  9. Sick of the system taking its time when scanning font directories? Here's a simple solution...

  11. 1. Run !FontMsgs if it isn't already loaded.
  12. 2. Drag your fonts directory (eg. !Fonts) to the FontMsgs icon.
  13.    FontMsgs will scan the directory. If there is already a messages file,
  14.    this will also be read in order to inform you of fonts added to or
  15.    removed from this directory.
  16. 3. Select the default font from each family, and edit its displayed name,
  17.    eg. you could make 'Homerton.Medium' appear as 'Helvetica.Medium'.
  18. 4. Save the list. This is ALWAYS to the font directory last seen by
  19.    FontMsgs (hence no save box).

  21. Newly-included fonts are shown on a cream background. Removed fonts are
  22. shown in a separate window.

  24. To open the font list window, click SELECT on the FontMsgs icon. To open the
  25. deleted list window, click ADJUST. If there are no fonts listed in either
  26. window, that window will not be opened.
